Back from Seoul: 10th World Summit on Arts and Culture

It’s been a few weeks since I returned from Seoul, where I had the incredible opportunity to join the 10th World Summit on Arts and Culture as a delegate representing the Culture and Arts Policy Institute.

I was also honored to participate as a panelist and moderator for a session titled “Developing cultural capacities: empowering participation in cultural life.” I had the pleasure of sharing the panel with three brilliant colleagues: Youjin Jeon (Republic of Korea), artist and founder of @womanopentechlab; Chaymaa Ramzy Zaatout (Egypt), founder of Creative Invest and Executive Director of @shelterartspace; and Kaisa Rönkkö (Finland), Director of @taikegram.

Over the course of three intense and inspiring days, we heard from cultural leaders representing 94 countries. The conversations were deep, thoughtful, and urgent — we tackled big questions like:

  • How do we rethink cultural policy in the face of global crises and the rise of AI?
  • What does meaningful civic participation look like in the arts?
  • How can we build open, inclusive, and future-ready cultural governance?

A huge thank you to IFACCA and @arkokorea for organizing this global exchange. I’m especially grateful for the chance to share some of my work on civic participation — you can now find the full Discussion Paper online.

Already looking forward to the next summit!
