I am happy to share that my installation, The Timelines Project, has been selected for inclusion in the DxD 2025 exhibition, which will take place from March 21 to April 5, 2025. This exhibition provides a unique platform for exploring the intersections of data, art, and design, fostering critical and creative engagement with information.
About DxD
Data Through Design (DxD) is a renowned initiative dedicated to examining the narratives, implications, and aesthetics of data through artistic and design-based practices. By showcasing works that interrogate the ways data is represented and interpreted, DxD challenges conventional approaches to understanding and engaging with information.
The Timelines Project
My installation, The Timelines Project, examines the limitations of open government data on arts and culture, which often focuses on Eurocentric forms and established institutions, leaving out diverse voices. It reimagines New York City’s cultural data by including insights from various communities and networks of cultural workers. These groups mapped key advocacy events to build a shared historical narrative and create a new body of civic data. The project emphasizes data’s emotional and participatory aspects, challenging the idea that data is neutral and offering a more inclusive and community-driven approach to understanding data’s cultural impact.
